Boulevard Manor Then and Now

A painting done of Confederate troops at the top of Upton’s Hill during the Civil War. Troops were stationed there and spies used nearby Munson’s Hill to spy on the Union capital of Washington, DC.

More recent photos of Upton’s Hill, now Upton Hill Regional Park, where in these photos in the 1970’s a pool was constructed. The top shows the ground level view and the bottom shows the walls of the pool being constructed.

Upton Hill Regional Park now has a fully functional water park, which is one of the largest in this area.

The view today looking up from the bottom of Upton Hill on Wilson Boulevard. On the left is Bluemont Park.

An old and undated photo of the Reeves mansion followed by a photo of it today. It was lived in until 2000, when the Mr. Nelson Reeves passed away. The county now owns and maintains the house, and there have been suggestion for using the house as offices for the park.

Mr. Nelson Reeves in a photo for the Washington Post in 1972, after he ended dairy production on his land. In the background are the houses in the neighborhood that bordered his land at the time.

An old sign post for the old railroad line that is in Bluemont Park

Boulevard Manor today; from Wilson Blvd. to Route 50, from Bluemont Park to the county line.
