Upton Hill Park - Located on Upton’s Hill named after the Ohio newspaper editor who owned the land prior to the Civil War. Because of the events that occurred on Upton’s Hill, the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” was written. A regional park of Northern Virginia, offering a swimming pool, mini-golf course, batting cages, picnic area, skate park, and playground. The pool was the first part of the park to open after many single family homes were built on the hill during the 1950s and 60s.
Bluemont Park - A 70 acre park located in the center of Boulevard Manor that follows roughly the path of Four Mile Run stream, whose valley transported troops on a railroad track during the Civil War. The park has many fields, connects to and contains part of the Northern Virginia Bike Trails, lighted tennis courts, basketball courts, a volleyball net, a shelter, and a new playground.
Ashlawn Elementary School - One of the smallest elementary schools in Arlington, its increasingly diverse population represents the changing demographics of the county. It has two playgrounds, a small track, and a blacktop.
Reeves Mansion - Home of the late Nelson Reeves, the farmhouse of the last dairy farm in the area, it is now property of the county, but was inhabited until 2000 when Mr. Reeves passed away. It sits at the top of the hill in Bluemont, and the long slopping hill is used by the neighbor hood for picnics, playing, and sledding in the winter.
