Community Archives Item of Interest

When I visited the Virginia Room at the Arlington Public Library, I looked through many different nostalgic sources that provided historical information about my neighborhood. As a great resource, the Virginia Room provided many nostalgic pictures, pamphlets, and in-depth articles from decades ago. The room is a fantastic resource to research the past of your neighborhood. While I was researching Boulevard Manor, a picture in particular stood out to me. It was the picture of the Reevesland farmhouse located atop a Bluemont Park hill.

The old house and its lot consisting of 77.5 acres was deeded in 1902 to the Reeves family. The Reeves family established a dairy farm that flourished for many years, however deaths in the family forced them to sell the residence and its land to developers.

Now the house is owned by Arlington County Park Service and is a historical site located in the picturesque Bluemont hills. The house is being annually maintained to resemble the initial house built over a century ago.
